The 2nd Annual C.A.R.E. for The Clinic 5K Trail Run takes place on the scenic, wooded trails surrounding Pinewood Forest at the peak of autumn. The course features rolling hills, creeks, ponds, beautiful new homes and the new Piedmont Wellness Center. As you round the last curve, a live band will be motivating you to cross the finish line. There will be food, fun, and festivities in a park-like setting at Pinewood Forest. This year, we launch our exciting hospital bed race. Five member teams (4 Pushers & 1 Rider) will be competing in a timed trial bed race event. Each team will receive a "head start" based on the amount of funds raised and have a chance to win not only bragging rights, but a plaque and team gift basket. Most importantly, C.A.R.E. for the Clinic 5K Trail Run and Bed Race is not only a fun-filled day, but one which will be raising funds for Fayette C.A.R.E. Clinic Inc. enabling them to serve more uninsured residents of Fayette County in need of a medical home.

Fayette C.A.R.E. (“Compassion And Respect for Everyone”) Clinic provides free access to a medical home to uninsured Fayette County neighbors ages 18+ (200% or below FPL) that would otherwise have none. Fayette C.A.R.E. Clinic provides primary care, vision, dental, cardiology, physical therapy, gynecology, chiropractic, and podiatry for these individuals. FCC has provided 2500 -3000 patient visits per year with an average of more than $2.5 -$3 million annually in medical services for their patients. Currently, 849 patients call FCC their medical home. FCC's new patient count continues to rise as many lower-income individuals do not qualify for Medicaid, but cannot afford health insurance. Most of our patients are working people with lower incomes that are usually temporarily without insurance coverage. Many patients regain their health and can once again gain employment and access to health insurance, but, as life changes for them, it changes for others and a new patient enters the doors. Please help to exceed our goal of $30,000 this year and to us provide a healthier Fayette County for all.

The bed race will be a 100 yd course set up on the streets of Pinewood Forest. Two hospital racing beds will be furnished to for all teams to push for this time trial event. Each team will have a timed race and the top 2 teams will compete in the finals...for the win! In addition to the awards for the fastest 4 times in this time trial race, there will be 3 other awards: "best costumes", "team with the most funds raised online", and "best team spirit". Here's a video showing how much fun bed races can be. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PniTBU4cI-k Don't worry though, you don't have to bring a bed, we will furnish the racing beds.

Additionally, Bed Race funds will be raised online through a peer to peer campaign on social media and email. Upon registration, we will create a fundraising page for each team and individual team members then share it with their friends, family, and associates. The team with the most funds raised will receive a plaque and gift basket with gift cards from area restaurants and businesses. Teams will receive a "head start" based on the total funds raised. After your team registers, a fundraising page will be created and the link emailed to you. It will be similar to this:
